The College Bound Classroom began in 2016 when our founder, Ayla, began teaching at a small high school in the South Bronx. While her primary position was teaching Spanish, her favorite part of her day was leading the advisory course where students explored their college and career interests. She teamed up with the College Office to assist students with college applications and obtained a Certificate in College Advising from Columbia University. After moving to Florida, she continued to use her knowledge and skills to educate her middle school students on college and career options and assist her high school students with college admissions.
So, is the College Bound Classroom an actual classroom?
Not quite. After seeing the need for personalized college planning, Ayla has moved to meeting virtually with students one-on-one. Most schools do not have a dedicated college counselor, and those that do have a caseload of 500+ students with time constrictions. Through one-on-one coaching sessions, students receive personalized attention while completing our phases of exploration, solidification, application and destination at their own pace, without distractions.
Meet Our Founder, Ayla.
A passionate educator, Ayla has spent the last 7 years assisting students in college exploration and admissions. A first-generation college student herself, she specializes in working with students and families who are unfamiliar with the college admissions process.
Ayla has a College Advising Certificate from Columbia University, a Masters Degree in Secondary Education, and Bachelors Degree in Spanish and International Studies. She received over $50,000 in scholarships for her undergraduate degree, studied abroad twice, took the LSAT, was admitted into law school, and graduated with her Masters debt free!
She looks forward to helping students explore their passions, solidify their plans, and be accepted to their dream college!
